Big guts can be a recipe for early death! Now that is a very BIG statement but statistics and facts back up this claim.

Have a look of some of the awful risks you take if your "girth" becomes bigger than just a bit "podgy".

The bad news of big stomachs is this:
1. LDL cholesterol which is the bad form that clogs up your arteries, rises. Too much of an elevated level can cause big problems.

2. HDL cholesterol - which is the good guy cholesterol protecting all of us against heart disease decreases.

3. Blood pressure becomes elevated putting you into the high risk category for stroke and heart disease.

4. You become a high risk candidate for diabetes, because the amount of insulin and glucose in your blood stream becomes elevated.

5. Lastly, but not least, Triglycerides - a type of fat and risk factor for heart disease generally rises putting you into a high risk category.

Let's face it - getting a big gut is usually lots of fun. Over many years - drinking all that beer, partying hard, eating take out (or take away) food that is generally fried and of little nutritional value. But what about love handle exercises or any other exercise for that matter. While we are young we are generally lulled into the false security of invincibility.

But it always catches up on us doesn't it. Bad habits around eating and exercising always come back to bite us in the proverbial "bum".
